A scout-led, volunteer-powered troop in Inman Park, Atlanta, chartered by Inman Park United Methodist Church.
Troop 101 is a Scouts BSA troop for boys in grades 6 through 12, meeting weekly in Inman Park and camping monthly across North Georgia and the Southeast. We are part of the Atlanta Area Council of Scouting America.
Our motto is simple: Building Leaders Through Scouting. Everything the troop does, from planning a menu for a patrol of hungry twelve-year-olds to organizing an Eagle service project, is an opportunity for a young person to take responsibility for something real.
The scouts elect their own leadership and plan the year's program. The senior patrol leader runs meetings. Patrol leaders organize their patrols for outings, meals, and gear. Older scouts teach younger ones the skills they need for rank advancement, which is how a first-year scout learns to pitch a tent and how a fifteen-year-old learns to teach.
Adults are trained, registered, and present. We handle safety, transportation, health forms, and the paperwork that makes a program possible, and we resist the temptation to run the meeting.
Weekly meetings August through May. A campout nearly every month, ranging from car camping and shooting sports at Bert Adams to backpacking on Blood Mountain and a ferry trip to Cumberland Island. Service projects in the neighborhood. Two fundraisers. A family ski weekend. A week of summer camp at Camp Woodruff. For older scouts, high adventure and National Youth Leadership Training.

Troop 101 is chartered by Inman Park United Methodist Church, 1015 Edgewood Ave NE, which provides our meeting space and our institutional home. A charter organization representative sits on the troop committee and connects the troop to the congregation. Scouting America is open to youth and families of all faiths; the troop is not a religious education program.
Every registered adult completes Safeguarding Youth Training and is subject to a criminal background check. Two-deep leadership and no one-on-one contact between adults and youth are absolute rules on every activity. Read more about youth protection and safety →
