Troop 101 is entirely volunteer led. Each family should consider how they can contribute.
Scouting is powered by our scouts and parental support, and that is what makes the scouting program special. Whether you are working directly with scouts on outings as a trained assistant scoutmaster, or leading a role behind the scenes planning events as a committee member, your time and talents make all the difference. We need your talents and time.
Assistant scoutmasters camp with the troop, supervise safety, and mentor scouts on skills and advancement. Training is provided, including Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS).
Committee members handle advancement records, health forms, outing logistics, reimbursements, fundraising, summer camp registration, apparel, and the newsletter. Much of this is done from home.
Drive to a trailhead, help at the Christmas tree fundraiser, staff the Inman Park Festival booth, or serve on a board of review. Not every contribution requires a title.
If you have professional or hobby expertise, register as a merit badge counselor. Scouts need counselors across more than 130 badge subjects.
As part of our commitment to safety, every adult leader must be registered and complete Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). It is free, taken online at my.Scouting.org, and must be current.

Adult national registration dues are $65 per year, paid at my.Scouting. The troop covers national dues and training for primary adult volunteer leaders.
We are here to support you and your scout. If you have any questions about adult leadership positions, or would like to shadow a current leader first, please reach out to a scoutmaster, assistant scoutmaster, or committee member.
Parents are always welcome at meetings. A few dates on the calendar specifically expect parents: Courts of Honor, where scouts receive their ranks and merit badges, and the annual parent meeting and cookout. These are marked on the program calendar.
